I have a complaint! Look at all of these cell phones and point and shoot cameras! Guys! Put them down! I know, I’m an odd one to say it because every show I go to, I carry cameras as big as my head… but THAT’S WHY I’M THERE! I’ll get the photo for you. When you want to remember that moment, google me! I got you! If you do what these people are doing, you will not remember the moment, you’ll just have a photo of it. Believe me, I know! When I go into the photo pit, I almost never remember much about the 3 songs I shoot because I am paying attention to other photographers and to the lights, the movement of the musicians and a million other things. I have the shots, but my great memories come from when I put down my camera and watch the show. So, for your own sake, get one photo, put down your camera and WATCH THE SHOW! Someone will post a video on line, someone will have photos. You are there for the show…

but really. You can tweet later… get one for instagram so all your friends know where you are and be done with it.

Rant over…

Friday night I spent some time upstairs in The Roxy with the boys of Filligar. A quick photo shoot and this moment that was just a second to test light and we were off! Thanks to everyone in the band and the lovely people at The Roxy for giving me a fabulous Friday night.

When I got home, I think I found a few hand fulls in my hoodie, 5 or so of them in my bra and God knows how much got in my camera bag…

Imagine Dragons’ frontman took a tumble at the end of the set, but when security got him up and out of the pit, he seemed just fine. Hands raised and a smile on his face. He already had a broken arm though, so I do wish him well!

The Black Keys are always a great band to see live! They closed out the 21st annual Weenie Roast and they were fantastic!

This girl was awesome! Every time I pointed my camera toward the crowd she made this face and then laughed.

If I’m completely honest, an accidental contest win 3 years ago resulted in free tickets to their show at The Greek and an addiction to live music. Already a photographer with a different specialty, I wasn’t able to take in my SLR cameras, so I took a point and shoot to their show, and came out realizing that the visuals of music can be fantastic! After that, I pursued concert photography and I never looked back!

So, These guys (30 seconds to Mars) and KROQ, who’s contest I won, hold a special and slightly odd place in my heart!

I know their main fan base is quite loyal, so for your pleasure, here’s a preview of my shots.

The Silversun Pickups at The Weenie Roast 2013. Their Bass player was not able to make the show because she recently had twins. The show went on though and they did well.

There has been some controversy over the front man of Stone Temple Pilots. They did play the Weenie Roast though. Chester Bennington of Linkin Park filled the roll. A fellow photographer and I looked at eachother when the set started wondering exactly what band we were seeing. Cheers to Chester. He did well.
