Last night I photographed Nico Vega at The Roxy Theater in Hollywood!
They put on a hell of a show! I’m listening to them now, as I type this and that is not always the case the day following a show.

Cheers everyone!

The Salton Sea is nearly impossible to describe… The smell is that of stillness and death, the feel is of a calm apocalypse and the sights are all of those things. It’s a strange and abandoned place about 2.5 hours outside Los Angeles. My friends and I decided we needed a day trip and this was our chosen destination.

110 Degree heat made for a lovely selfie after we had been baking for  quite a while. I have a lot of other photos to go through, but I am exhausted so this is all for now.

Cheers to Erin and Jesse for a great day and being great photo companions!

Last week I helped throw a party for the 4th of July. More than 600 people showed up and we all survived!

Well done everyone!

When I hear an act is unique/weird, that usually means I will want to shoot their show. So, here’s Die Antwoord last night at The Fonda Theater. All of us in the photo pit were kicked or squished but as far as I am aware, all of the cameras came out unscathed. I’ve been kicked in the face before and kept shooting… but someone gets my camera and then there’s a problem!

Cheers!

I got to shoot Against Me! this past week at The Roxy Theater in Hollywood.
I am excited to see the documentary about transgendered people and gender diversity. Laura Jane Grace and the band put on a great show with a lot of stage dives like the one here.

I’m glad I got the reflection of the keys in his glasses but still managed to save his eyes for the most part.

I’ve been shooting with my Yashica in color and converting it to Black and white after development. These are a few color versions.

-The girl sitting was selling her art at a music and arts festival. I saw her wandering around later, but she never said much.

-Steve, a very talented friend of mine, was at the festival to play with one of his bands.

-The girl with green hair was selling merch at one of the band’s tables. She gave me a couple free songs.

There is a bar in Hollywood that is my Cheers. They were redecorating it and I was there after close early one morning and they started taking apart the bar. We all looked at the drinks, got a couple shots, played pool and I took this picture. It’s a slightly different vibe there now since the renovations, but it’s still my cheers.

While working on my Yashica Series, I visit my friends and meet new people. I bring along my Canon Ae-1 35mm film camera too and these are a couple of the photos I have taken with it along my little adventures.

-The man in the white hat is the owner at a seafood grill on Pico on LA.

-Chachi was making me dinner. Green juice and it was delicious!

-Krystal’s cat wanted to play with my camera a little bit

Bands, If you insist on having a lighting set up that mostly consists of strobes, I insist on taking this photo of you at least once during the set.

I saw Dead Sara at The Viper Room a year or two ago and thought they were fantastic! I’m happy that their fan base has grown so much! Gotta love great music coming out of LA!
I shot this at The Echo Last week for Grimygoods.com. They played along with friends of mine in Vanaprasta. I highly recommend both bands.

A Few months ago I heard that Dillinger Escape Plan would be playing the EchoPlex and requested to shoot it for GrimyGoods.com. My editor thought I was nuts for wanting to shoot their show, but I had to! They were the band that a photographer that I highly respect said “Until you’re ready to shoot a band like this, you’ll get your ass kicked if you try” A couple years ago when they came through LA, I passed o even asking to shoot. This time though, I had to prove I could do it and come out with photos I liked.

Strobes, an absolutely insane audience (except for my good friend Jesse who you can pick out as the bored looking guy… he wasn’t bored, I brought him because it is his favorite band… but it was not on his face at that moment haha), and at some points 10 stage divers on stage being pushed around and jumping into the audience. It was perfectly crazy, my photos came out insane looking as well and while I’d love another chance to shoot them, I consider it a success and I know I was not ready years ago, but I’m glad I tackled them this time around!

Cheers audience members who left much more bruised than I was! You were great fun!
