Working on some photos from my friend’s set last night at my spot Lucky Strike Hollywood.
My room mate came out to the show and had never been to a punk show. I think there’s a new punk convert! She had a blast and loved their energy. I had a blast listening and shooting and I always love the stories of how music brings people together and how it changes people’s lives. There were a few of those stories told last night. I love it!

I’ve lost count of how many times I have shot their shows…. Most recently though, I covered from a bit further than in the past. Love them or hate them, they’ve got some of the most fervently loyal fans I’ve ever seen!
Cheers to 30 Seconds to Mars for keeping a pretty weirdly entertaining party going. If I run into Jared again any time soon, I’m going to ask about his ability to keep from aging. It’s nearly frightening.

I’m sorry! I’ve been very busy and it’s made me go MIA. I’ll be going through many old photos and making some updates to my main site, so I’m sure I’ll throw some up here as well!
I photographed Lykke Li last night and her lighting made me so happy!
Here is a shot for now. Taken for Grimy Goods
Cheers,

On Monday night I got to see Nine Inch Nails at The Hollywood Bowl. I rarely say that someone put on the best show! I have to say it this time! The show was amazing! As dark and angsty as ever with a setlist and light show that made it into performance art! “Closer” live was amazing and I think the next time it comes on my running playlist, I’ll be sprinting. The entire set had everyone that grew up listening to NIN in the isles arms raised and jumping!
They closed out the set with “Hurt” their flawless cover of Johnny Cash’s song and it was perfect! I only wish the set was longer!
Trent and the band were friends of my late friend and though I wish he could have been at the show with me. I hope that in a way he was there rocking out to his friends and favorite band!

I’ve still been working on my Yashica series and many more photos must be taken!

Here are a couple low res previews. I will not be posting all photos because I will be having an opening at some point and people will have to come see the other shots.

They are all little snaps of a moment and I love them! I’m starting to write about each one and it is one of my favorite series I have ever done. Thank you to everyone that has already had their photo taken, and if you have not yet had yours done and would like to, please feel free to let me know! We’ll set something up!

I was a movie kid. I was a production designer and a drama kid before that. I have a degree in film production and falling into music was a total mistake. It was a happy mistake and one that I appreciate both for the love of live music and for the people that is has brought into my life, but it was never the plan. I appreciated music of course, but live music was frankly just not on my radar. I bring this up because even when I was a film kid, I cared about this musician. I loved listening to Paolo Nutini and he was one of the few people that I know I would have spent the money to go see. Years later with hundreds of shows under my belt and a complete addiction to live music, I finally got to see and photograph Paolo live at The Troubadour in Hollywood.

I was worried though! If he didn’t live up to my expectations, I would have been devastated! His music brings me back to college and friends that also loved his music and sadly have not all survived to this day. It was a total nostalgia show for me and he hit every song I wanted every note I needed and I fell in love all over again with his music, live music and what it can do.

If you get a chance to see him, do it! Date night, girls night, anything, just go.

I was back stage with Beardyman tonight and for his first time on the Sunset Strip, he had a bit of a rough time!
I’m entirely kidding though… He put on a great show and made it out unscathed.
Cheers!

I’m not Ohio! :-)

Hello friends!
It’s official!! I have left BehindTheHype.com and will no longer be “Ohio” for the publication. My articles from 2010-now, will remain there as well as many photos but I will not be writing any more articles or taking any more photos for the publication.

The first time I shot for the site was my first time at The Rainbow Room and the Roxy, I shot numerous shows and had a blast over the years! It is time to move on though! If you follow me, you know the Roxy is and will remain my musical home many nights! Of course shooting shows all over LA and while traveling will continue! It’s been fun BTH!

I will continue to work with my other publications as well as working directly with a few venues and bands. As always, the support from you, bands, and the amazing people that have been brought to my life by music, means the world to me!

Ohio out!
From now on, anywhere I write or shoot, I’m Tamea. Who needs a pseudonym when you have a fun name anyway!

Cheers!

Teenage me had a blast tonight at The Greek Theater. I was there to cover The Goo Goo Dolls. Oh Nostalgia I love you!

Last night I photographed Nico Vega at The Roxy Theater in Hollywood!
They put on a hell of a show! I’m listening to them now, as I type this and that is not always the case the day following a show.

Cheers everyone!

The Salton Sea is nearly impossible to describe… The smell is that of stillness and death, the feel is of a calm apocalypse and the sights are all of those things. It’s a strange and abandoned place about 2.5 hours outside Los Angeles. My friends and I decided we needed a day trip and this was our chosen destination.

110 Degree heat made for a lovely selfie after we had been baking for  quite a while. I have a lot of other photos to go through, but I am exhausted so this is all for now.

Cheers to Erin and Jesse for a great day and being great photo companions!

Last week I helped throw a party for the 4th of July. More than 600 people showed up and we all survived!

Well done everyone!

When I hear an act is unique/weird, that usually means I will want to shoot their show. So, here’s Die Antwoord last night at The Fonda Theater. All of us in the photo pit were kicked or squished but as far as I am aware, all of the cameras came out unscathed. I’ve been kicked in the face before and kept shooting… but someone gets my camera and then there’s a problem!

Cheers!

I got to shoot Against Me! this past week at The Roxy Theater in Hollywood.
I am excited to see the documentary about transgendered people and gender diversity. Laura Jane Grace and the band put on a great show with a lot of stage dives like the one here.
